No RDB on Drive !
« on: November 06, 2005, 03:35:02 PM »
Hi All,

Im attempting to setup my A600's 20 Meg HDD....
Using 2.0 Install WB Disk.....

Want to format the drive and start again... as it wont boot from the HD, have to use the discs....

Used the PrepHD software on the install disk, it finds the drive ok.. and reports back that its going to partition 6MB WB & 14MB work... after a few minutes I get the error "No RDB on Drive!" - Havent a clue whats up or what to do... any ideas ?

Use HDToolbox to partition the drive, then install Workbench on it. Never heard of PrepHD where did you find it ?

Bye,
Thomas

Try booting from floppy.... Are there Icons for
the partitions on the WorkBench screen saying
"Work and SYS" or whatever you call them ?
Click the Icon and format them. Should work then.

No Icons are displayed for the HD on the work bench....

with regards to the INSTALL DISK 2.0 - Dowloaded all four disks from the net... WB, XTRAS, FONTS, INSTALL 2.0. The PrepHD Program is on the INSTALL 2.0 disk :)

went into the HD Tool Box... it finds the drive, then asks me to change the drive type ??

Yes ... PrepHD is part of the OS 2.04 install disk.
I found it was easier to NOT use it.
Use HDTools to prep the drive partitions and install the file system,
'Save Changes' after each step. Then format the Icons on WorkBench.
Sometimes it can seem a little confusing but you should
be able to do a 20 meg drive.

When I upgraded my A500 to KS 2.05, I had all kinds of problems.

I finally traced it to WB 2.04 which I was using.
It seems to have unpredictable results with the later (A600) KS.

Get the 2.05 workbench, and most of your troubles should be over (?).
