I recently plugged in my Dell 2000FP flat panel monitor to my amiga. I have been using the BootControl app to promote the video to VGAOnly and DblNTSC modes blindly when using the Amiga with my ViewSonic monitor.

Long story short I replaced my primary monitor (2000FP) with a larger model (2405FPW) and found that it supports 15khz modes even though its not mentioned anywhere else that it does. Either it internally doubles the scan rate or it natively supports 15Khz. Either way I am very happy since my PicassoIV died on me recently.

Ok wait a minute now............are you saying this monitor displays NTSC or PAL hiresinterlaced without you putting it in DblNTSC or DblPAL or  Multiscan?

have you tried games?  and more importantly, does your workbench flicker in 15khz mode on this monitor?  because if it doesnt..either you have your Amiga in DblNTSC or Multiscan (Simple way to know is plug into TV at the same time)  or that monitor has an internal Flicker Fixer :-)

Whats the namebrand?

It doesnt flicker because its an LCD. I haven't tried any games yet and understand that the native resolution of this monitor is 1600x1200 so if you want crisp text you'll need a gfx card capable of this but yes it displays all the screens without any monitor driver loading and its made by Dell.

Hmm, something leads me to believe that this monitor as a composite video input somewhere or an S-Video input?

anyway.I noticed you said something about using a BootApp to get your Amiga in DblNTSC???

Where can I get this bootApp?  whats it called? does it require that the DblNTSC and VGA only monitors be in the DEVS drawer?

See because for some reason...it has become impossible for me to get my Amiga in DblNTSC or and VGA screen for that matter

so you see it has a COMPOSITE and S-Video input, thus it is 15 khz native...

but at a price range between $915 to $1199, way to expensive... if it had a TV Tuner build in, it would be ok...

My 0.02 € on that...

Ahhh
So indeed I was right!  so its actually not so surprising :-)

Way too pricey though. I would rather buy an LCD TV with S-Video inputs......they go for about $350 and includes a TV tuner :-)

Look on eBay they're going for ~200 dollars. Thats a damn good deal since the monitor is absolutely great for games. Hell at that price I may pick up another one.

I have an 2005FPW Dell LCD, however it cant display 50Hz modes like PAL only though the Composit/S-VHS input, NTSC on the other hand it handles nicely. So my question is are you using NTSC or PAL on your monitor?

The program is BootControl, and it's on Aminet (bootctrl.lha or search for bootctrl).  It will boot your system in DblNTSC/VGA so that you can see the early boot menu and any boot errors in VGA mode, but it might solve your problems too.

I'm pretty sure it does not need any files from Devs:Monitors either.

ULTRA cool!!!  now I can use my 26" VGA Gateway Destination PC monitor on my CD32 :-D

@nyteschayde: Could you maybe post some screenshots in the image gallery?
I would be interested how the Amiga's 15khz modes look when being interpolated to 1.920 x 1.200 pixels.

A FST CRT, I love em... have 2, and I'm letting one go.
Does NTSC TV tuning, s-video, composite audio, 15 klhz, vga 800X600.
