How safe is it?
« on: November 06, 2005, 01:33:30 AM »

Recently i´ve had problems feeding enough power to the ppc cpu,it seems to have problems with big tasks,so i decided to add more power,so my real question is,how safe is it to add power to 1200 motherboard through +12v to the floppy connector and +5v to the led connector next to the floppy connector?
I´ve done this but i´m afraid that my amiga might not last long.

Why do you add 5V through the LED connector ?
Just plug a floppypowerplug from the PSU on the floppypowerconnector on the mobo and you are set.
Never heard of any damage (unless you manage to connect it the wron way round so 12V go into the 5V line).
My setup is running like that without problems for years.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

fairly safe..

a power supply has a max output..

i cant remember the max output on my powersupply i will have to get the manaul or volt meter out..

but i say

12v... max 12.15v
5v.... max 5.20v

i also do belive that a ppc/a1200 does not like the 5v rail set to high..( mine is set at around 5.02v.

power is nothing without control
