One quick and dirty way I can tell if a Amiga is NTSC or PAL is look for the QWERTY and $ sign on the 4 key.  If there is a Brittish pound there or weird charachters near the return key it is not a US model!  I can spot them a mile away on ebay.  I think some users are buying PAL A600/1200's and reselling them in the US to make extra bucks.  All my Amigas are NTSC :)

From now on its pretty easy to tell (Usually) All NTSC Amigas except the A1200 have a FULL ENTER/RETURN key......so if it has a blank key to the left of it..its probably PAL or at least I would ask to make sure

Actually that is not true.  I have 3 USA NTSC A600's and only one has the "full" USA keyboard, see my picture gallery.  My other two have the two blank keys.  But I do have full US keys.  Best bet is to look at the #4 key on the auctions, if you don't see the good old American $ sign stay away! ;)

i got a 1200 from canada a couple years ago and it was packaged pretty poorly. however when i fired it up it not only ran perfectly (after i put the simms back into the ram card that wasnt mentioned in the ebay description) i saw that it had a hard drive too also not in the description.

that harddrive died not too long after also. travel is pretty rough on those older hds. you sound like you got it pretty bad on this one.
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

Yeah I also have had a few take a dump on me.  I had a 60MB one originally in mine and last week when I was putting it back together the HD would knock and did not work.  Worked fine before.  No big deal as I installed a 4.86GB Travelstar in it, and cannot be happier.

Bottom line people, if the HD in your new Amiga is the only thing that doesn't work consider yourself blessed and just replace it!!!  Don't even make a fuss to the seller.

@TjLaZer,

I'd love to see what those last 2 negative feedbacks where about.

Now we will have to be careful bidding on eBay until we figure out what new ID he is using.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)
