PCMCIA memory cards and Amigas
« on: March 30, 2003, 07:24:18 AM »
As I understand it, newer PCMCIA cards will not work in A600/1200's because their slot is based on an older PCMCIA standard..

I'm wondering what the largest size memory card is thats likely to work in my A600. I'm guessing about 2-8mb?

If I knew this, then I could ask second hand or older equipment dealers if they have x size memory cards, and if they do, then I could bus over there with my A600 and try it out in the shop.

The  largest size memory card you can use is 4 MB, because Commodore limited the memory address space

It's also 16bit ram, so it may actually slow down your system
in some cases. Still could be handy for some things. I had a very
difficult time locating a 68pin Sram card...the only ones I could
find were either expensive, or 32bit (I never did get one). I did see
one on ebay though a while back that sold cheaply.
