A1200 Ram Cards issues
« on: October 31, 2005, 07:54:09 PM »
Hi. I have a problem with two memory upgrades for my A1200.

I have a Power Computing Ltd PC1208 upgrade and also a Microbiotics MB1200z card.

Both have 8mb ram and FPUs.

Now here is ny problem!

1) Neither card will see more than 4mb of ram even though the sims are working fine. Even with an 8mb sim, it only shows 4mb.

2) My Amiga 1200 will not boot with either card if the FPUs are installed.

Do these cards have software that needs to be installed in order to work or do I need some sort of magical jumper configuration.

I am unable to find and manuals for these cards.

Please help!!

Check http://www.amiga-hardware.com for jumper settings. That seems like the most likely problem.

Another possibility is that these cards are not PCMCIA friendly (see link to confirm), and something in your PCMCIA port is causing a memory address conflict. Check the jumpers first, then unplug PCMCIA peripherals if you're still having trouble.
