CyberstormPPC weirdness

Good news and bad. I found a CyberstormPPC in the 3000T I picked up last night. Bad news is, the Amiga will not boot with it in place.

The manual for the card mentions these jumpers need to be set as such:
BRDCLK (J102) - Ext
CPUCLK (J104) - Int
QUADCLK (J100) - Ext

According to some documentation I've found, these settings are...
BRDCLK - Jump 1&2
CPUCLK - Jump 1&2
QUADCLK - Jump 3&4
With these settings the 3000 won't boot after I've installed the card. As with the 2000 the power light starts dim then brightens shortly after you power on. With these jumper settings and the CyberstormPPC card installed the power light stays dim. The fan spins and everything else powers up. But no kickstart screen or anything.

Now, if I put the jumpers back to normal:
BRDCLK - Jump 2&3
CPUCLK - Jump 1&2
QUADCLK - Jump 1&2
and remove the CyberstormPPC the system boots right up.

Has anyone here had any experience with this card and a 3000T? I would really LOVE to use it.

No idea, couldn't find info from the net with a quick search; what about quadclk to 2&3? The others must be right.

do you have some RAM installed on CSPPC?

Are you using the A3KT internal SCSI2 controller?

Can you get the CSPPC EarlyBootMenu? (click on ESC during the boot)

Ah . . . if you have nothing attached to the CSPPC UWSCSI controller, try to click on the "s" key during the boot (this disable the UWSCSI controller)

Post some more info about software/hw config

i.e its a CSPPC with 060 . . 040? do you have the 68K libs installed?

If i'm not mistaken, I believe CPUCLCK (J104) should be set to ext also...

Reseat the card.  The cyberstorms wiggle in the cpu slot very
easily.  The slightest misalignment will prevent it from
booting.

Can you check your jumper settings for me and let me know? I thought it should be as well but the PDF manual online says it needs to be INT??

Should the card snap in place? It seems pretty easy to remove... so I wonder if I am not seating it well enough.

That is what I am wondering. It pulls out pretty easily.. How do I know it is in place? It does not click or snap in when I push it. I can see the two white plastic rods through the holes though.

Yes I have two SIMMs in slots 1 and 3, which appears to be Bank 1. I guess the configuration is:
Bank 1: 1 & 3
Bank 2: 2 & 4

I've unplugged all hard disks and only tried the floppy.

When I boot into the system with nothing else installed I have 2MB chip RAM and 8MB fast RAM.
It has Workbench 40.68 (3.1)
Everything else looks stock.
As for the CSPPC? Let's see...
I do not know if it is an 060 or 040.
There are two crystals labeled "SCO-060 66.000MHz 97-12" and "3X0-22C 50.000MHz C C"

I will post a photo of it shortly.

I have not yet installed the libs. I want to see if I can even get the boot menu. But like I said.. The typical pattern is. The power light starts dim then goes bright as it starts to boot. With the CSPPC in place it stays dim. Not getting to the disk yet.

You can't really go by the plastic standoffs.  Take like a
pencil eraser and push down along the side of the card where
the slot is to make sure it is pushed in all the way.

Using SCSI in the CPU-Slot of an A3000 requires the INT2 hardwarepatch. I`m not sure, if the SCSI on the card will simply not be operational without the patch or if the card will not work at all.

you could always try the old caps lock key trick. If you press it and the light keeps flashing the CPU has been found, but if after a few presses it stops flashing the CPU hasn't been found (The case for my A4000 anyway) Thr only times I've ever experienced the power light going dim (and flashing in my case) was when the Cyberstorm SCSI wasn't setup properly, or when my CybervisionPPC card slips out a little.

Well, the CyberstormPPC is now functional. I re-seated the 68k chip, verified the jumpers, and re-inserted the card.

One thing I am confused with is this. When I look at the system info the CPU is reported as a 68040. First of all, didn't the 604e/233 ship with a 68060? The crystal on the board seems to indicate it is an '060. Also, how do I tell if the PowerPC is present? I would like to check that out.

Reported by an OS that was created years before 68060 existed in the first place.

Anyway, check powerup.amigaworld.de for some doc and drivers.
