Blizzard 1240 Problems
« on: October 22, 2005, 10:59:45 PM »
I have a problem with a recently received Blizzard 1240 board that I picked up, and I was wondering if anyone on this forum could give me any insight on my problem.

My current config:

A1200 in a Winner Tower
Zorro IV board installed
PicassoIV installed on ZIV
Budda IDE installed on ZIV
I/O Blix installed on ZIV
GVP 4008 SCSI w/ 8 MB Ram installed on ZIV.

Suspect card:  Billard 1240 w/o SCSI

When I first installed the card the system didn't boot up. It just when in to a reset reboot cycle. Soooo I removed the card cleaned the connector on card and ZIV passthru connector. Reinstalled the card and wala the system booted up great. The card works........ but alas the next time I tried the same problem occured and I haven't been able to get the system to boot with the card installed.  It will boot fine without the card.

I've check the jumber settings on the ZIV board and they are correct.  I do question however the rather flimsy connection between the card and the ZIV pass thru connector.  When the card is connected it you can move it "up and down" (if the machine were on its side) It doesn't move laterally due to the alignment slot. A better analogy would be if you put a card in a zorro slot and didn't screw it in place and just moved it from side to side.  The Blizzard card moves back and forth on the connector a fair amount.... I can't believe that this is normal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

P.S. Sorry for the long post. :-?

Try disconnecting the ZIV busboard and connect the Blizzard directly to your mobo. Just boot with a Workbench disk as you obviously won't be able to boot to HD with none of your Zorro cards connected.

If it works without the ZIV then the problem could be the passthrough from the ZIV. If it still doesn't work, then you have a problem with your Blizzard.
