The value of a CSPPC?
« on: October 22, 2005, 07:56:27 PM »
I'm slowly realizing that my old miggy is just collecting dust, and I'm thinking about selling it. The problem is, I don't have the slightest clue as to how much it's worth. I've tried to look at ebay, but I didn't see any CSPPC for sale there. So, could anyone give a hint as of how much these pieces of HW are worth?

* A4000 (decent condition, but not that great to be honest)
* CSPPC (060/50MHz, 604e/233MHz)
* CVPPC
* Ariadne II
* Scandoubler (DCE: Scan Magic (Internal). Pretty sure about it atleast :-))

Be realistic. No wishful thinking in either direction, even though I realize that it's quite difficult to set a value to something you've never seen in real life.

We'll see if I manage to part with it in the end though. It's not that easy, but I guess I don't have to it for those that's reading posts on this site :-(

Best regards
/Cryten

Completely disassemble it, sell all the parts seperate on ebay. Some will hate you for it, but you will make more money that way. Personally i wouldnt care if you hung it from a tree and used it for target practice, it's your stuff.

Then if you just wanted it to find a good home and didnt care about making money off it, you could always put it up for a pledge towards something, like say AROS bounty or a donation to your favorite amiga website.

Koaftder said it. For the CS PPC alone you could get 500 Euro on Ebay, not even mentionning the other stuff. Just sell it all in different auctions, you are really gonna get much more than when you would sell the A4000 in one piece  :lol:

Also, by parting out a system, you give people a chance to get the one part they need to upgrade or repair their system. A guy could buy your accelerator for an inflated price, or they could buy an entire system at an iflated price to get that one part they need. by chop shopping the machine you come out on top and end up saving people money on the stuff they need.

For the people who want whole systems, theres plenty of other people selling whole systems. No need to hate anybody here.

I always think parting out a system is fine, for both reasons given - i.e. some people are only looking for one part, and at the end of the day we all gotta pay the bills, who says you should guve your stuff away? The only thing I would object to is people parting out WORKING original systems - i.e  selling the kboard, floppy drive etc of an A4000 or any computer for that matter that is working and old enough to be gaining rarity...

I just spent $400 on an MKII 060 if that gives you some idea of what the accelerator is worth by itself.

Just got it running to and its great.

you could take it to a local Amiga User Group in your area if there is one.

or you can donate it to a good cause. I'm the representative of PEVC (Preservation of Elderly Villains Charity), we're based in Chiba Japan in a submersive base previously used by gozilla. Our senior members include King Zarkon, Gargamel, and Shredder among many others. We would appreciate your kind donation for our worthy cause. many thanks.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I would in a way prefer to sell everything in one big batch, since I'm feeling quite lazy. However, as some of you has pointed out, there's an advantage to sell it piece by piece, for both the buyer and seller :-).

On the other hand, I don't have any account on ebay, and I think only fools would buy things of value from a seller with no 'history'. Then again, I guess fools pay more than people with no insanity in their family ;-).

Maybe I should just donate it to PEVC... Hmm, that's a thought ;-).

Well, I got to think this through.

Erol -> I wouldn't mind selling it to you. It's just that I'm currently trying to make up my mind about how to proceed from this point.

The last thing I want is a incomplete system that's of no use to me, so once I sell it I need to know where to get rid of it all.

What you could do is a kind of sealed bid type auction on here/amibench.

Say that you are selling all those bits, and get everyone to email you with offers. The person who makes the highest bid by the end of the week or whatever gets the booty...
