external battery on A4000T
« on: October 15, 2005, 08:54:23 PM »
how do you connect external battery to A4000T? I can see the jumper labeled battery, and there are four pins. Should I connect new 3V lithium batt to right two pins (the two on left are connected with jumper now)? Can it be connected without removing old battery because I'm a bit lazy to take apart whole computer in order to desolder old one (and a bit worried something might break)?

Pinout of the connector:

o = + 3V (red wire)
- = key (missing pin)
o = no connect
o = ground (black wire)

You won't need to remove the exsisting battery, or fit any diodes, etc.  Just fit the (non-rechargable) directly to this connector.

@ Orange

If you buy the proper battery pack it has a keyed connector so you can only fit it the right way.
