Spider USB Problem?
« on: October 12, 2005, 12:17:35 PM »
I have just plugged a Spider USB into my A1200. I have a mediator, voodoo3, soundblaster and fast ethernet with 603e/240/060.

I thought i would do a clean install. I installed everything about five times but the machine will always end up not booting from the hard drive. This is only since i put the USB spider card in. By the way, i have not installed any drivers for the USB yet, just plugged it into the mediator.

I never had this problem before i bought the USB. I have read about RDB trashing but my card is new this week. Is it to do with my mediator driver CD? Its an old one.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I assume from what you are saying when you remove the Spider the system boots up OK from hard drive.

A couple of things spring to mind : firstly make sure the Spider is firmly in the PCI slot and secondly it is recommended the Spider is installed in the lowest slot.

If that cures the problem to install the software you need to install the drivers from the MMCD, install the Posiden stack from www.platon42.de, copy the spider.device on the supplied CDROM and then run some cli commands.

Hope this cures the problem.

Also make sure you have MUI installed on your system as Posiden won't run without it !

And if you're still having problems, join the Mediator Group for the hardware side and go HERE for Poseidon Stack support (where you'll get little help on the Spider.)
