 i choose hd setup

Why do you do that ? If yuo have already partitioned the HDD, you do not need to set it up again. Just open the Install drawer, choose your language and install the OS files on the boot partition.

A partition is made bootable by checking the "bootable" flag in HDToolbox. After partitioning, you have to format the partitions before you can copy files onto them. Click the HDx:NDOS icons once and choose "format disk" from the menu.

Thomas

hi yes i know all that but it installs but it doesnt ask where to put it and when its finished it all goes to the right place but it doesnt boot and yes it is checked ,its very frustrating when you just cant see whats wrong,

i always format the drives aswell and i always see if i can go into the partitions and it does.

so i just cant see a reason for it strange as hell.

If you partition the drive, made one partition bootable and restart the Amiga without a floppy disk in the drive it should already try to boot from HDD (either tell you there is not a dos disk in hd0 or show an empty shell window). If this already does not work, you don't need to start any installation. Just go back to HDToolbox and check all your options.

but it doesnt ask where to put it

It does if you choose average or advanced mode. You should *never* choose beginner mode. Not with any software to install. There is no installer script which does everything right without asking the user. So always choose at least average mode.
