I don't think you can do this while the Amiga is on, simply because I do not believe the machine can detect the other device has been plugged in (?)
On a side note, you might want to get yourself some 3.1 ROMS and install WB3.5 too.

Especially if you are thinking of putting a larger HDD in.

there is no need for cdrom if you have other computers with one on network, PCMCIA Ethernet card would have almost the same speed of CDROM with soooo much more . get a larger HDD and keep images of CDs on it
Better sorry than worry.

Are there any internal network cards you can get for the A1200.... like something that attaches to the motherboard.....? Or is that just nonsense lol?

Of course you can get internal network cards, only the list is pretty short. There is one that connects to the clockport of the A1200 but the name escapes me ...

Neat I did not know how versatile the clock port is on the miggy, so you can add ethernet port or an USB?  What other cool things can you connect to the port?

@Effy
Are you sure there is an ethernet adapter for the clockport? I'm very interested in such a thing, but I can't find it on BBoAH or Amiga Resource. It would be cool to use it on my clockport expanded A500...

I think there are only USB interfaces/sound cards/serial ports for the clockport. Didn't the NorWay (I think this was the clockport ethernet thingy) get scrapped?

i ran both a cd drive and a ethernet card for a while until i fitted an ide cd drive and i did just unplug the cd drive and plug in the ethernet while the a1200 was on and i didnt have any problems it was just a pita!
Why does it always break?

You could also add a pci expansion and use a pci network card, leaving the pcmcia port free.

@Odin
No, the Norway is a module to connect to one of the Zorro based USB cards from E3B. And as far as I can see, they were manufactured but now "LEIDER AUSVERKAUFT" as they put it.

Does anybody know whether it would be hard to make a norway-like device for the clockport? The Norway doesn't seem to have too many components...
