HELP! My 4000T is Not Powering Up!
« on: September 30, 2005, 11:31:19 PM »
Hi guys

This is really weird. My Quickpack 4000T was working just fine - i went to swap out the cpu with another, reconnected everything and now the machine wont even power up! The power and hd light flickers for a 1/2 second and the machine is dead. I changed the psu with a known good one and same problem. Anybody have any clue what to check what could be wrong?

I have checked the wires for the front panel and they are all connected, Even the hard drives and psu doesnt power up but it cant be completely dead if the led flickers right??

Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like there is a short somewhere, so the PSU shuts off again. Check CPU orientation, unwanted contacts between case and electronic components. Unplug HDDs, remove boards, ...

Ja, it sounds like a short. Same thing happened to me while I was testing an 030 CPU card. I had the floppy out and I touched the underside of the PCB against the chassis. Same symptom...no power. I mounted everything properly, left it a while, then tried again and it was fine.
