PC for emule

[amiga4001]

As I can't get this amigift to work(the deamon yes but nothing comes online) I am thinking of buying an PC.
It need would only be for emule and maybe internetbanking.
A guy offered me a pentium2@(I believe 400MHZ) will this be enough?
The battery is gone but there is a bag for it included.
He is asking 120 EURO.
Laptop is nice because of size but thinking desktop will be cheaper to get.
Any advice please...

I wouldnt buy it, thats a rip. You can find machines in the trash with thoes specs around here. The other day i picked up a p2 300 for $5.00 dollars at a thrift store.

I agree, a PII <500mhz system should be *almost* free. Maybe $25 for a complete system, or $10 for just the board.

no PC ..If you have ppc in Amiga you can install MorphOS and using mldonkey or bouriquet emule client..here both programs works OK!

I think we are talking notebook here, they should be worth a little more then that.

Considering that you can get a brand new notebook for under 500 these days, i'd say an old, {bleep}ty laptop from 5 years ago would be considerably less.

p2 400 laptop, 50 dollars max. It's battery is on it's way out ( and replacement would cost around 150 ) if not already. Plastic  bits are probably coming off around the hinges. Thoes little harddrives in laptops tend to not last more than a few years. Over time LCD screens start to yellow or turn other colors as the glue that holds them together breaks down. EL backlit displays loose half their brightness after like 2 or 3 years. Tube backlit displays eventually burn out their tubes.

Old laptops have lots of problems. If you end up having to replace something, you pay out your ass for parts. You'll wish you had bought a new cheap one with a 1 year warranty.

Thats why i would say anything more than like 50 dollars would be a rip for a portable p2 400.
