How much room for AOS3.9 ?

# I'm installing AOS3.9, and I like neat and tidy partitioning, so I'm wondering How much would be just enough for OS3.9 to work with ease ?
Is 100 Mg, what was setup for OS 3.1 enough ?
I don't want to be forced to re-partition to add fonts or datatypes...

# How does it handle virtual memory ? Is it a file, or some sort of dedicated invisible partition ?

# Licensing (theoretical) : Am I allowed to install from this retail CD, to ALL my Miggies ?

# where are the "white papers" about this release, I wouldlike to know more about the insights, what retained from the original code, what is still in use in OS4.n code, how are the 3rd party classes integrated, and much more questions in the pipe...

I'm using 3.5 but to give an idea of the size I use 112Mb (out of
300Mb total) for Workbench.  This setup has many extras, fonts,
viewers, editors, 24 bit backdrops and samples, etc.

68k Workbench does not have VM. Check out VMM on Aminet.

You need to buy a copy of Workbench for each machine you want to run
it on.

The minimum requirement is 10 MB (or 20 MB if you install all the backdrop pictures). 100 MB is plenty. 200 MB should suffice forever, even if you install tools like MUI and DOpus to the same partition.

No, it takes it's time to boot the machine, install romupdates, reboot, configure the CDROM, finish it's boot sequence using the CDROM contents ;-)

R : mine is 512Mb (huge but I like to take my ease ;- ) ) for about 90 Mb used by OS3.9 + loads of other stuff (MUI, fonts, ect...)

R: no, but that's normal single user licence :-)

I'm of the "More the Merrier Camp," Having had to remove icons on my old 2000 to make room on the boot partition for new libs etc.  Like, you I didn't want to repartition.

I recenly set up a seperate drive (9gig) for OS3.9 with a boot partition of 500Meg. Not only is that plenty of room, it gives me room in a pinch in case I need to temp hold some files.
