So will this board work in an A4000 too or just an A3000?

Due to the physical size, only the A3000.

It's prety wild that there's an accelerator card out there that "due to phisycal size" only fits in A3000D. Usually, if something doesn't fit, then it's because your Amiga is a 3000D. ;-)

So it would basically hit the Zorro riser right? Or does it face the other direction?  Relocating my power supply and disk bay would be a small price to pay for more RAM and better memory performance.

This board goes under the drive bays.  There is a CPU expansion slot seperate from the Zorro slots.  It fits within the enclosed area below the drives fine.

I know the CPU expansion slot was separate.  I was asking about it's orientation relative to other parts of an A4000d.  For instance the A3640 extends from the CPU slot towards the Zorro riser (in an A4000 anyway).  If this card extends in the same direction there truly is no way to fit it in an A4000d.  However if it extends the other direction then it's not a problem.

It's wide and it extends towards the back of the unit from the CPU connector.  Will it fit in a 4000? I have no idea, I've never owned one.

The photo shows it running away from the CPU fast slot quite a long way - no way to get past the daughter board - apart from removing it.

http://math.uh.edu/~barrett/data/hardware/accelerators/Mercury68040

Under the Compatibility section it says it would work in 4000 if there was physical room.  So perhaps if you have a tower or mod your case you could do it.

Thanks,

Neofree
