WTB A1200
« on: September 17, 2005, 03:40:52 AM »

Anyone have a clean and (nearly) white A1200HD for sale? If it's accelerated and includes a 23pin->15pin vga adapter that's even better. I keep missing the nice ones on ebay and honestly I'm just tired of waiting around for auctions to end.  Sold my original 1200 10 years ago, and my 3000s, and 500s a few years ago.  I now feel empty without my 1200 and would like to find one final A1200 to care for.

I'm in the USA so I'm looking for an NTSC machine.  BTW, could I use a PAL machine here with a VGA lcd flatscreen monitor and scan doubler?

Thanks

Thanks guys... well... I bought the Amiga in that auction however it turns out that the VGA adapter in the picture isn't included...soooo... should I hardwire an add a 15pin vga port to the back of the 1200?

Seller claims the machine contains 2.0 roms, but I think he might just be looking at the workbench version.  It's not possible for a 1200 to even run with 2.x roms is it (ide support, AGA, etc)? Assuming it actually has 3.0 roms installed.

The first A1200s to ship had 3.0 roms but the default workbench installation for 3.0 didn't look much different from 2.0 so the owner is probably confused.

Congratulations by the way!

I'm also looking for an A1200 HD with some kind of acceleration, so if anyone else out there is selling one let me know. Ideally, I'd like an A4000 but they rarely seem to crop up on Ebay. What can I say? Those that have them covet them,

Yes it has 3.0 roms.. I was thinking of my A600HD when I was putting up the auction.  That monitor adapter is going w/the monitor I'm selling.. you know what though.. I will see if I have another adapter..if so I will throw that in.. I will check tonight when I come back from a party..

Whoooot! I feel better knowing I'm getting my Amiga from a fellow Amiga lover.  If you can dig up another vga adapter that would be awesome.  I would really appreciate it and will pay you for it as well. I understand the confusion over the ebay question... no big deal.

Back in 98 I sold my A1200/030/50mhz A1200 and what a shame... it still haunts me to this day.  I tried to fill the void with SX64's, A500's, and even a pair of A3000's (I was actually here about a year ago looking for an A3000) but once I got them they just didn't have the feeling that my A1200 had.  Something about the simplicity of the case and compactness...and all of the fond memories of the AGA games...and running a multiline Cnet bbs...   Anyway... 8 years later and I'm looking forward to setting it up and doing some programming on the Amiga again.  The A1200 is my favorite of all of the original Amigas.  Sure, a tower case is more expandable, but I like the A1200 in original form.. probably because I started with a 500.
