Can't tell you what your specific problem is but I have a FF@40mhz with CV64/3d working here with CGX4.  Probably a software problem...

Hi there.

My kickstart is 40.63 and i have no FF40 bootmenu(pressing right mouse during boot) so i guess that my plug'n go rom's
are the new version.

My motherboard is a rev 6 i have also tried rev 4.3

Another thing... My FF40 dosn't boot with ram, i have to use SetFF with the preset option to activate the ff40 onboard ram.

How did you get your FF40 to work with Cybervision ?

I use SetFF Preset ; maybe that's wrong

br.

Oops.  My mistake.  I didn't.  I have a completely different system.  I have a WarpEngine in an A4000.  Sorry for the bad information.  Not quite sure how I managed to confuse a Fusion Forty with a WarpEngine but I did.  :-?  :-?    :pint:    :smack:  :python:  :insane:

I am not exactly sure what version of Amiga OS 40.63, is that OS 3.1?

If so, what version of the ROM's are on your F40 card? Supposedly, that card will not work with 3.1 without a certain ROM revision.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes that is OS 3.1 and there is no numbers on my rom chips, besides what year they where manufactored.

But the problem is the same under 2.04

It's wierd...

What do you have inside your a2000?

How much memory do you have on the Fusion 40?  try, if you can, busting it down to the least manditory amount (4 megs. in the lower bank).  It might be something as siple as that.

As for the ROM ver. question, if it's working fine under 3.1 and w/o the vid card, I'd say you shouldn't have to worry much about that.

I had one of these in my A2000 yrs. ago and I never had any problems w/ it...  Must have been lucky

Good LUCK!

Hi everybody.

I'm picking up this old post because I'm having the same problem now.

Did somebody solved this hardware issue in the meanwhile?

I have an Amiga 2000 with KS 3.1, Cybervision 64/3D, a SCSI controller ALF2 and a A2630. Everything was working perfecly until I decided to upgrade to 68040!

I bougth from ebay the Fusion Forty 68040 with 32Mb RAM on board and the last Plug&Go ROM 3.4.

I put it on the system and... nothing. My system won't boot at all.
Ok, I started without startup-sequence and it booted, so I removed the setpatch line from the startup sequence and now the system works.
But I haven't found a way to make the Cybervision working again. The system doesn't detect it in any way.

Another strange thing is that if I move the boards on the zorro bus and I put the Cybervision before the SCSI card, the system doesn't detect the SCSI as well...

I tried also to remove some memory from the FF40 but nothing...

Can somebody guide me into a solution?

Thanks everybody!

I hope my Amiga will live forever!!

Any advise?

It might work, but not reliably. Setpatch loads the CPU library, needed for the accelerator to operate correctly. (Does the Fusion Forty require a special 68040.library?) I'd give the one from the MMULib package a try, and go from there.

Oh great! So do you think that playing with the Setpatch parameter I can have the luck to make the CV643D to be seen by the FF40?

I tried to play with it for a while, the best result is that the system doesn't recognise the filesystem of the DH0: anymore!

Well, you definitely need a working CPU library. In your Sys:Libs drawer, there should be a file named 68040.library, which is loaded by setpatch if a 68040 processor is detected. However, this Commodore supplied library doesn't work with every accelerator - some require their own special library.

I suspect this to be the problem with the Fusion Forty (in which case the library from the MMULib package might not work, either).

My advice - download the Fusion Forty software here, see if it includes a 68040.library. Install it, uncomment setpatch and give it a try.
