Extract CAPS .ipf files?
« on: August 31, 2005, 10:04:46 AM »
Is it possible to extract the files held within a CAPS .ipf image? I'm wanting to use the files in CAPS version of Secret of Monkey Island I have to use with ScummVM.

I've often wondered if this would work:

For a non-copy protected disk....
Load UAE and mount the IPF image as df1: and a blank adf as df2:
Put X-Copy image in df0: and boot.
Then in X-Copy set doscopy mode and df1: (source) to df2: (destination)

Certainly copy protected stuff won't work...  But for reasonably standardized disks, like Monkey Island (manual protection, not disk protection)...  Maybe?  :)  (And if you have a Catweasel mounted as a trackdisk, could you then nibble copy the IPF to a real floppy?)

NOTE: I've never tried any of this.  It's just an idea I've had stirring in my mind.  If your build of UAE spontaneously combusts and consumes your PC, it's not my fault.  ;-)

@Ilwrath

Should work just fine, but as you say... only for unprotected disks.
