Help finding Amiga Music Demo
« on: August 26, 2005, 05:08:56 AM »
I remember playing .mod files on the Amiga.  Unless this is a mixed up memory from my C64 days, there was a music demo or player that would play the song and showed a band playing at the same time.  It had 4 musicians, IIRC: a guitar, drums, singer, and keyboard.  As the song played, it would cause the musicans to play.

Does anyone know the app I'm talking about?  Sorry the descrip is fuzzy, but its the best I can recall from years ago.

Cheers,
Dr. A>

I remember seeing something similar many years back. In the one I remember, it just lit up the musical instrument when theat one played. It showed a guitar, drum kit, keyboard and microphone (for the singer). If this sounds familar to you then I should still have a copy since it came on an old cover disk (which I still have). Most likely a CU Mag disk or something of that ilk.

I'd certainly be open to checking it out.

I'm sure thats the one though.  I am pretty sure I remember some graphics, where the artist was pictured.  I remember thinking how cool it was, since most graphics related to music showed patterns and such, but you couldn't really see a direct relationship to the music.  The little computer musicians matched with the music, so it looked like they were playing it.

IIRC, the drummer was in the top left and it was drawn like concert performance.

I sure hope I'm not remembering a C64 app.

Cheers,

This sounds like Thrust Concert on the C64, which also had two of the musicians sitting atop some HUGE speakers.  It didn't have a singer, though -- just two keyboard players.

I don't recall seeing something similar on the Amiga.

I was so excited when you posted!  I checked it out, but then wasn't sure.  It looks sorrta like my memory.  I don't see a crowd in that one.  The one I'm remembering had one.

Let me check that one out and then post back.

IIRC, you could play different songs.

I think there was an Amiga screen saver package with a module of a band playing like you describe. Sorry I can't remember any more details. It probably would have been one of the more popular packages available on Aminet.

Sorry if I'm way off.

That sounds familiar as well.  Anyone have any idea of hippo? or some of the other players supported a visualization like this?

I can feel we're getting closer.  ;)
