No surprise here really, but interesting nonetheless. The best way to sell things like SUVs, wars and anti gay legislation is to undermine mens "masculinity".

yes, i saw this the other day.

I've noticed that (some) guys can't handle having their sexuality questioned.

which is very funny when you consider who are some of the biggest warmongers around: Bush, chaney, et al are all incredibly A-Sexual.

I mean, i don't look at any of them and think, "well, i want me some of THAT!" :-o

If a man can't handle someone suggesting he may be gay, then he's definately got something hidden away in his psyche IMHO.

The Channel 4 drama "Queer As Folk" damn near destroyed the credibility of Jeep Wranglers amongst heterosexual men as the lead character was seen to drive one.  I believe one motoring magazine implied that Wrangler oweners were trying too hard to stay in the closet.

Of course, it's not necessarily heterosexual or homosexual men who are lured by the gas-guzzling charms of the SUV, as vertically disadvantaged (and usually peroxide blonde) females and males sufferring from inferiority complexes seem to be joining the ranks of the 4x4 brigade too :lol:

btw. those SUV's make me want to have guns legalized over here - I want to walk over the street with a bazooka, to make them feel how it is to be vulnerable  :pissed:

No need to start an arms race!
Just get a big tractor with frontloader and a big excavtion-bucket. Not only could you push them out of the way a la protesting french farmer. But the best part is taking up the whole road while only doing 30-40 km/h, now thats gone irritate them....... :lol:

If I were in any way insecure, I would almost take offense to this issue.  

As some of you know, I recently bought an SUV (albeit a "small" Toyota RAV4 SUV) because I needed

1) to get out from underneath a smothering lease
2) I wanted something a bit more fun to drive
3) I wanted more room to carry things.

My new Toyota gives me all of that, plus 30 miles per gallon (which is astounding for any SUV).  

I'm also very much in support of our troops for the job they do, but I am diametrically opposed to the war in Iraq and I also harbor a sincere loathing for the lack of intelligence shown by our current "Redneck Commander in Chief".

I am not gay, nor am I insecure in my masculinity, nor do I "hate fags" in any way, but I do proudly drive a new SUV..
