Siamese System
« on: August 08, 2005, 03:05:25 PM »
I still have a Siamese System 2.0 setup for sale. This is the older version, with the video switcher card. Much better video control than the newer SS 2.5, but also was much more costly.
I am open to a fair offer.
Can ship it almost anywhere.
This is still in the original box, with all cables, disks and the manual (in English & German)- like new condition

A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

:-? Nothing to do with WinUAE.  More like VNC and SMB.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I am amazed so few Amiga users know what the Siamese System is.

It has nothing to do with WinUAE or emulation at all.  Read the details in the link provided above.

I personally have the 2.5 software only package.  I rarely used the RTG features but they seemed to work fine for Workbench friendly apps.  I use the MountPC function all the time.  For me, it's much more reliable than using SMB (and easier to setup).

This hardware version works extremely well. Price was a serious point though, this thing orginally sold for $329.00 US. I think that was its undoing.

BYW - I just sold this unit.

Yeah, I got the software only for $150.  The ISA card looked nice, but now I wouldn't have a computer that could use it.  As it stands the dongle and software required for the 2.5 still works with XP, but I don't know how long that will last.  (or how long I can still find computers with lpt ports)

I used the Siamese card in a new Asus mobo machine, using an add on card to add two ISA slots to one of the PCI. They are sort of rare, but do exsist. I used it with Windoze 2000 Pro with no trouble. Never tried it on the XP machine.

Hi,

My first post here on amiga.org after reading lost in the last months.

Reason for replying is Motrucker's remark about a pci card that adds two isa slots to a pc. A few days ago I got two catweasel cards, one for a a4000 and one catweasel isa for the pc. Couldn't find pci to isa converters on the net. Could you point me in the right direction? Would love to get that old card working on my pc.

I bought mine locally at a small, used computer parts/electronics store. The only adapters I have found are toooo expensive new, but here is a link to show you what to look for;
http://www.cyberresearch.com/store/computer-accessories-pc-peripherals/bus-adapters-expansion-chassis/PRO_700_3228.2.htm
I paid $35.00 for a slightly older version of this.
There are others out there too, it just a lot of looking....
