Actually, somebody here (alas I can't quite recall who) put me in touch with Kahlon, a US supplier that undercut even the cheapest european supplier I found. What's more, it's tested memory too, so you know it is going to be compatible.

kahlonThe only thing to be wary of is the import tax. I just got a pair of 256MB sticks for an Acer Travelmate 220, with 5-6 days international delivery came to 108 USD (about 61 UKP). HM's custom and excise shoved import tax (and a subsequent clearence fee by ParcelFarce) which was an additional 22 UKP all told.
Compared to UK suppliers I have looked at, this was still *way* cheaper - you'd pay as much for generic memory in some cases.
