Mad prices for PPC...
« on: July 31, 2005, 01:34:41 PM »
Hi,

I've seen this auction of a CyberstormPPC at eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5221753882&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

Maybe I should also sell my CyberstormPPC and buy an A1 for the profit?

I would realy like to get a Cyberstorm PPC for my A4000, but at that price it would simply be mad to do so!

Yeah, the prices these days are mad, but there is something cool in having the fastest accelerator ever made.

If someone would want to spend over 800 EURO for it, they are certainly retro geeks, and that is fine by me, but I would never myself pay that much for a CyberStormPPC board. I paid less than half the price for my CyberStormPPC :-)

All rare Amiga items sell for insane prices these days!! Just try finding a Blizzard 060 Accelerator or an A1200 Flicker Fixer/Scandoubler for anything close to a reasonable price on eBay. You wont.

Some hardware manufacturer should (re)produce these items as I'm sure there's enough demand still out there to warrent it. Nevermind NEW Amiga technology which always sells badly...people still seem to want classic hardware and there's obviousely a market for it judging by the frenzied eBay bidding!
My Sys Specs:-
A1200 Desktop^Blizzard 060 (Phase5) with mk-IV SCSI Kit (8.5ROM)^128MB 60ns RAM^Int. 30GB HD^Ext. SCSI DVD drive & 9GB SCSI HD^Int. DCE ScanDoubler/FF^ MicroVitec 1701 Msync monitor^PCMCIA LAN Linked^AmigaOS 3.9+BlizKick+PFS3

The problem with reproducing classic hardware is that once it starts being produced, there won't be the same supply / demand balance anymore, so people won't be willing to spend the same amount of money.  Nevertheless, I wish somebody would start reproducing some hardware, it's hard to get here in Oz, so I have 6 miggys, and not ONE of them has an accelerator  :-(

Why not just buy from abroad? Many wouldn't mind sending to any place in the world, including myself. There is a lot of accelerators available, but it depends on which Amiga it is for of course.
