nice item, not sure 'brand new' is quite accurate though. 'As new' or 'like new', fine, but not 'brand new'... sorry...
I like Amigas

Haven't you guys noticed? Everything Amiga related on eBay is brand new and rare, if not very rare. In a month or so we will go to the next level; brand new, very rare and the only one of its kind!

I hope he kept the cat away from the board, their static load can quickly ruin the board - maybe that's what makes it 'rare'...

Maybe the cat is to keep mice away from the 286 bridgeboard ? Because there only a vague chance of windows running on it ?

P.S. Windows would run actually, but the cat would be dead before it loaded.....

The fingers on the card look like it has been installed in an Amiga at some point.

I find it hard to believe that someone would have bought this item for large coin and then never touched it.  It's only brand new when you get it from the dealer, once you bought it, it's 'used'.

'bout 15 years ago I was in an Amiga dealer, and they had a stack of these things piled on the floor, for like $100 each.  Was tempted, but upon remembering it was an XT, why bother?

On ebay, there are no shortage of people who would jump at something like this.  I've seen old PCs that were obsolete junk go for large cash at an auction, because people think that they are getting a deal on "a computer".

I'm surprised effy doesn't have more info on this board.

The description looks a bit vague to me (the pix aren't showing on my system, is his girlfriend holding the board?).
To quote the great man (John Cleese) himself - \\"My Hovercraft is full of Eels\\".

Amiga 2000 PC Emulator Kit - BRANDNEW !! VERY RARE !!
« Reply #8 on: August 01, 2005, 07:56:45 AM »
As far as I know the package came from a shop that closed down (now why would that be in these fantastic Amiga days) and the card was never even used and only taken out of the box to make pictures of it. It has a brandnew 5,25" drive in it, never used. Of course this doesn´t have much use anymore these days ...

Cyberus : the difference between "brandnew" and "as new" or "like new" is that in the last two cases they must have been used before but still look in good shape. It´s like Vesalia still sells A1200´s that they found in an unknown warehouse and had been there for years after the production has stopped. Then how do you want to call those A1200´s they sell at Vesalia ?? Used ?? As new and therefor used ?? Like new because they look new but are years old though never used ??? What word can I use which doesn´t offend people but still tells the story ???  :-?

bludger : if you want more info then feel free to ask. There is no secret to that card  :-)

Zac67 : no, Frits didn´t touch the board at all so no static electricity could have beeen transferred between the cat and the board. And for your information, Frits died two days ago of age and a lot of pain, couldn´t get his breath anymore so we had to put him to sleep forever ... so no more pictures of him ...

@effy

Hate to bring the news but vesalia does NOT sell new A1200's at all. Not to me at least. Where my 1200 came from I don't know. But is seems composed of used parts. So 'used' would be my term for my a1200. It nice and white and all. But have nowhere near new. Assuming they just picked one of the pile for me you can say they are probably all like that. Mine had no warranty seals, two of the plastic clips were broken, a screw inside was missing, the box had some wear, the software and books were missing, a luxurious mouse was supplied (non standard, this isnt a bad thing) and the system was secured in its box by papers instead of those white things on each side. Not really new now is it?

But this is way off topic.
Regards,
Erno

Dale was in a couple of the pictures when I sold my moped some time ago...  Cute pets put bidders at ease. ;-)

Uh yeah, unless we're talking about precision electronics.
