C64 DTV video noise?
« on: July 30, 2005, 03:19:12 PM »
So I finally picked up one of these at my local "Toys R Us" Very nice selection of games and good menu layout! Unfortunately, there is also a good deal of what appears to be video interference in the form of wavy vertical lines. I've tried relocating the equipment, but it did not help. Perhaps the long, thin video cable just isn't very good at shielding.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hi,

The cable attached to the C64 DTV isn't particularly great quality, but I don't see any video interference on mine. There's the usual dot crawl and other junk associated with a composite video signal, but other than that, it appears fine for me - sorry that doesn't help you!

Have you tried it with a different telly, or something else on the same telly that also has a composite out?

I've tried it on two TV's and a flat-panel monitor with composite input. It definitely looks to be more than just dot-crawl. Should I mention that my actual Commodore 64 and 128 computers do not have this issue when connected to the same displays?

I have a DTV as well....no video problems with mine either.  Sounds like you need to take it back to ToysRUs and get a replacement.  It shouldn't have video issues out of the box unless it's broken!!
