hard drive

I have spent 2 days trying to get the hard drive to work on UAE 0.8.22. R 9
some times I can get to the workbench and format the hard drive
but most of the time I just get the amiga dos window or a error
using kick 3.0 & work b 2 or 3
the add PC devise is check !
The hard drive size I am trying to creat is 100 Mb hard drive
on a 1200 config !
Is it possible this will not work on my new PC hard drive`s (ATA/SCSI) ! ?
Or maybe the work bench disk in not config (folders or files missing) ! ?
Is UAE not config config ! ? (do I Need a newer uae?)

Hi,

The hardware your PC uses won't make any difference to the emulated Amiga environment - UAE will provide the same emulated hard drive regardless of whether the PC's HD is SCSI, PATA, SATA, etc...

If you're using a Kickstart 3.0 ROM, it's generally a good idea to have the same version of Workbench and the rest of the OS disks (e.g. installing Workbench 2.x whilst using a 3.x ROM is not advisable!).

You should be able to start UAE, configure it so that the appropriate hardware is emulated (e.g. A500, A1200, etc) and create the relevant sized hard drive file. From there, boot the emulated Amiga with the Workbench disk "inserted" and proceed as you would with a real Amiga.

There are various threads / articles elsewhere about how to install Workbench and the other associated disks.

Alternatively, save yourself an installation task and grab a version of AIAB (Amiga In A Box), which contains a pre-installed hard drive image. See http://aiab.emuunlim.com

I can start uaf and get to workbench ! ....if I do not add a hard drive in the config setup
if I do add a hard drive I get to the amiga dos screen or I get a error say : the hard drive is not a amiga dos disk ! ? (it don not give me a chance to format it or instal workbench on the new hard drive) !
Why ? how to I fix this problem ?

Yes I have looked at the setup web pages all over the net and fallowed the tutorials
but none of the how to tutorial work ! For me !

Hi,

What's the host machine that you're using to emulate the Amiga?

PC running Windows (which version?), or PC running Linux, or Mac, or something else?

Are you running the latest version of UAE for the platform you're using?

If you can get Workbench itself running from an emulated floppy disk, this should work regardless of whether or not the emulated Amiga has a hard drive...
