Using USB WiFi adapter or laptop built in modem with WinUAE

Greetings Amigans,

I am wondering if anyone has had success using a USB WiFi adapter with WinUAE. It seems to me that it should work as long as this is done through the Windows TCP/IP stack.

On a similar theme, has anyone been sucessful using the built in modem in a laptop with WinUAE?

Also any links to info on how to configure either of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Just make sure that bsdsocket emulation is checked on the Misc panel of WinUAE, then go online with Windows and use your favourite Amiga web browser in WinUAE.

True what Thomas said, it should work without a problem, no matter how your computer is connected to the internet, as long at there is a connection then WinUAE can use it

Now for a new question...

Is it possible to use a modem with WinUAE without using the Windows TCP/IP stack?

What I mean is to directly access the Modem or serial port hardware directly from WinUAE?

Yes, just select the appropiate COM port on the 'Game and I/O Ports' screen to use in the emulator.

For TCP/IP you will then need to install Amiga TCP stack to use it eg Miami, Genesis etc.

You could get problems with a built-in or USB modem because AFAIK WinUAE does not support non-standard (emulated) COM ports. A real serial modem or a nullmodem cable connected to one of the real COM ports will work without problems.
