I think this was supposed to be the replacement for AmigaOS on Phase 5's proposed PPC based computers. Of course they never really materialised after Apple pulled the plug on Mac clones and Phase 5 did their disappearing trick, and it is my guess that PowerOS morphed (haha, I kill myself) into MorphOS.

Looks like it was Titan Computer project that fell thru.

It didn't, MorphOS is independent project.

PowerOS has nothing to do with Phase5.
If I remember correctly, it was an attempt to write a PowerPC native OS by Claus Hermans for the PowerUP and Amijoe boards.
But certainly it was only vapour ware after all.

I thought I read somewhere that PowerOS code was given to AROS a long time ago?

Seems to be the case. It was in some contrib dir, but as far as I know it was just quite primitive bootstrap + exec. I haven't really looked into it, so I could be wrong.
