Looking for recommendation for this system I've just installed XP on, its updated to SP2, now I just want some eye candy (and perhaps some usable desktop utils)

Everything must be free though :-)

Thanks in advance

@Cyberus
If you want some eye candy for windows do a search for YZShadow (shadow under windows) and YZDock (macosx like dockbar), both are free but hard to find.

Sort of usefull desktop utils are Gkrellm & Sysmetrix, also free.

Or install ShellWM for a totaly different desktop.

Some usefull links if you wanne pimp up your windows desktop :-)

Hang on... I think you've got this wrong... you are supposed to start a thread about switching off the eye candy, not adding more :roll:

Well in truth, I just want to find some decent icons, as I think the standard XP ones suck.
I always see all these nice icon sets for MorphOS, AmigaOS etc.....

And the sidebar thing, I remember seeing one a couple of years back that had local weather, a nice big analogue clock, with trillian contacts as well....

I'm not into powerhungry eyecandy, that makes the machine crawl (I saw someone's 'puter recently with an animated wallpaper, wtf!)

So rather than ADD eyecandy (with maybe the exception of a sidebar), I want to change the look of XP....

You could put your favourite png icons from macos or amiga os with avedesk. It´s a free application that allows you to put it icons in a very wide variety(supports shades and shadows too). hope this helps. I´m currently using version 1.1 and just works fine.
