Problems with PC FDD convertor
« on: July 04, 2005, 07:29:57 PM »
I'm having problems loading demos on a PC floppy drive. Now before you jump to conclusions, I used to be able to load ALL demos using this adaptor.

Let me explain my setup...

I have an Amiga 1200 with a Phase5 Blizzard 1230 IV. The PC floppy drive converter is made by DCE.

Now, I know that some demos won't work with the Blizzard, but I've found a couple of demos that fail to load when using the converter AND the blizzard.

If I use the original amiga floppy drive and the blizzard, I have no problems.

If I use the PC floppy and NO blizzard, I have no problems.

If I install the blizzard and try to use the PC floppy, I get issues. From watching what the floppy drive is trying to do in WinUAE (with the problematic demos), it seems errors occur when the drive does a seek, somewhere around 3-6 steps or more generates the problem.

Also, I've found the PC drive is fine when being used in workbench with the blizzard installed.

I am experience with a soldering iron so any additions, or changes that will help, I'm more than capable of doing.

Hope you can help...
