Game recommendations please

I've got a 1200 with Blizzard 060 but unexpanded gfx.
I want to blast a few pixels but have never really been
into the gaming scene. Please can someone recommend a good blaster that will really show off my 1200/060 (I guess it will be a specifically AGA game). I was just reading the thread about Trapped II is that a good one to try and get?
I appreciate this request is a bit wide but just after some pointers.

If you want something that will really show off your 060, then I'd recommend T-Zer0 by Clickboom. It's a shoot 'em up of Neo Geo quality.

Payback will probably also run quite well on your machine. If you want first person shooters have a look at Breathless, Alien Breed 3d 2, the Trapped series, Nemac IV and Gloom. I'm sure there are many more, but that's all I can remember right now.

On my A4000 060 Doom actually runs faster with Adoom port than any native Amiga first person shooter, but Iguess this doesn't show off the Amiga much...

Breathless is pretty good though I only had the demo version on my A1200/030. Clickboom (http://www.clickboom.com) does have good games. Their games typically recommend a graphics card.

RTS/strategy games would be Earth 2140, Colonization, Foundation.

Quake II is available, too; however, don't know how well it would run without a graphics card.

Edit: You can also try some of the Amiga Classix CDs if you have a CD-ROM drive.

Try the following games on your 68060 processor:

Quake (Use the executable from www.aminet.net), Genetic Species(You can download the complete game from Aminet), Payback, Flying High, Tales from Heaven, Adescent, Hexen, Heretic and Virtual Grand Prix. The only game that doesn't work well is Duke Mukem 3D port.

i also would recomend Napalm from the very same shop.

other than that... Banshee is a nice shooter.

Super Stardust is another nice shooter.

Vendetta 2170 is another nice shooter.

Deluxe galaga (free) Great shooter.

Crossfire 2 , is a nice shooter (from 2003) , u can find this at APC-TCP.de  (see the english button and select crossfire 2 from the pulldown menu (fairly cheap too)

If u want to blast some pixels try Banshee AGA.


Next week when u have calmed down  :-D
u can consider the possiblity that u may one day
think about trying a turn based strategy game (maybe)
in which case I would recommend Total Chaos AGA
as it uses your 68060 and AGA chipset to the MAXIMUM
and was specially coded for 060+AGA systems.

It requires 16 megs minimum, 32 megs recommended.
And it blows Colonization clean out of the water. :-D

I'll second Genetic Species, that's a good one - even if only
pseudo-3D.

I like Quake 1 also but Breathless is pretty sluggish. It has a patch
for '060 on Aminet.

Super Stardust has an unofficial sequel called Wendetta (it's pretty
good!).

Exodus is another good Real Time Strategy game in the mould of Napalm.

PD game Frontal Assault is a thinking man's blaster and doesn't really
use too much CPU but is a good laugh. There's also a demo on Aminet
somewhere called Lamba that really shows off the '060 processing
power. Don't know whether it became a full game...

Yes, Nemac-IV is quite good if you save your game and progress into
later levels. I like the remote mines your robot can throw out - very
similar to the ones in Goldeneye on Nintendo 64.

Get a 5-level playable demo of Nemac-IV from Aminet, these are the 3

Also, I couldn't find Lamba on Aminet. It seems to be only on the

Lamda is an impressive game indeed and i felt very disappointed when someone in another forum told me that it will never be release because the author lost the source code. Well, i'm glad that the project is back even if it looks much, much more hardware demanding ;P
 (The initial release was very playable on a 68030/50)

I wouldn't expect too much from Lamba. The website doesn't seem to
have been updated for quite some time and it's more of a 3D tech
demonstration than a game. You can fire bullets but they don't hit
anything, there are no sound FX etc.

I think Descent was ported to Amiga but that wasn't much good, and for
flying thrills on '060 I'm afraid Eurofighter sim 'TFX' was only
compatible with '030/'040.

The '060 seems to have been the neglected child of the Amiga CPU
family - sandwiched between the fully compatible '030 CPU and the next
generation of PPC603e.
