Serial Mouse again
« on: June 29, 2005, 11:13:36 PM »
I have an old PC serial mouse with the sub D 9 pin
connector and I have a 9 to 23 pin serial port adaptor.
I D/L'ed a driver from Aminet that was supposed to work.
It didn't work.
The question is ... what did I mis ?
If I read the docs correctly, it should have worked.
Anyone have a guess, or know of a driver that works ?

I hope you have a 9->25 pin adapter because the 23 pin connector is for the monitor, not the serial port.

There are a lot of serial mouse drivers on Aminet. Which one did you use ?

I think NewMouse is the most recent one.

Bye,
Thomas

@Thomas
Yes .. sorry  :-D  its a 9 to 25 pin adaptor.

@Orange
No .. not for games, just a working mouse.

I tried the drivers that don't require hacking
the mouse... there are 2 drivers that are supposed
to work.

Have you read the documentation? The drivers may need configuration, since there are several incompatible mouse protocols on the PC.
Have you verified that the mouse works with a PC? Windows 95 had plug'n'play for serial mice (but not PS/2 ones), and that should be the case with the newer revisions as well.

Furthermore, try some graphic tablet drivers, since they often have support for serial mice as well.

I have an elbox mroocheck serial->amiga mouse port adapter here if anyone wants it. I don't want much for it, its useless to me.
