Is it Amiga cake time yet?
« on: June 25, 2005, 06:20:15 PM »
Just pondering...

Is the Amiga 20 yet? I want an excuse for birthday cake, and I was hoping that this anniversary was close.

Haven't heard much about it, but the Amiga shars its 20th birthday with some other institutions- Neighbours, the Minardi F1 team (who know plenty about surviving in difficult times) and last and leastly, me. :-D

Hmm,

if you take the offical presentation at the Lincoln Center - that was on July 23rd - just four weeks to go.

Of course the Amiga existed before that date but which landmark was her birth? Lorraine working? Tape out of chipset? Kickstart 1.0? I think the premiere is the best date to celebrate.  :-)

@blobrana

Hmm, "justintime.com".. I wonder if that JIT has something to do with WinUAE, or with Petunia from Os4 :-)

BTW on July 23rd I'll have my cake for Amiga, too!

@ Blobzie

I would have loved that fire-engine cake as a kid...or maybe the pirate ship.

I'll never forget my 4th birthday. I had a really nice Humpty-Dumpty cake, with a blue wall and a frosted Humpty on top. I was looking forward to eating Humpty himself but a bigger kid (about 6 years old) snatched the Humpty off the cake and gobbled it quickly. I cried bigtime because that cake had been specially made and I knew I would never see a Humpty-Dumpty again. What made things worse was everyone saying 'Don't worry, it was only made of icing, it is not as good as the cake'
What a pig that other kid was, that was MY cake, dammit, and I never did see a Humpty on a cake again  :-(

Ahhh, it all falls into place now.  That's where your gun fascination started! ;-)

@ mdma

Well, to be honest, at that time I would have settled for anything that would have got me my Humpty back...by fair means or foul. These days I'm much more placid though.
