Catweasel MK2, boot off it's hard drive, installing os 3.9
« on: June 24, 2005, 02:49:20 AM »
Ok, my hard drive for my 1200 is now in the garbage where it belongs.
I've got a catweasl MK2, so in a hypothetical world where it actually works for a change, how would I go about setting up a 3.5" HD on it, as well as a CD-ROM, so I could boot off it and install OS 3.9?

AFAIK you cannot boot from the Catweasel. It does not have a firmware with drivers, the drivers have to be loaded from disk unless you have a flash ROM (Algor, Romulus, Kickflash, eFlash) and put the drivers into it.

If you have a free Zorro slot, yes. The Algor is an USB controller with flash ROM on board, Kickflash and eFlash are single Zorro boards with flash ROM and the Romulus is an add-on for the Highway USB controller.

I don't know if the Catweasel drivers are made to be written to a ROM, though. At least you can add the USB drivers to the ROM and boot from an external USB stick or HDD connected to the Algor or Highway.

Adding a flash ROM directly to the Catweasel is not possible AFAIK.

Bye,
Thomas

why not pop your workbench partition on a CF card?
