How to get info off a disk?
« on: June 23, 2005, 11:30:43 AM »
I have a cover disk "Amiga Shopper Issue 21, January 1993, volume one". When I click on the cover disk icon and open the window it appears to be empty. I assume this is because the information has been compressed. I would like to be able to open "SysInfo 3.17" on this disk but I don't have the magazine to tell me what to do next, so I'm a bit stuck.
Any advice how to get the info of this disk would be appreciated. Also I'm kind of new to this so simple instructions are good.
Thanks, Andrew

try "show all files" if you don't have directoryopus or similar.. you do have ks 2+, do you?

they might have used diskspare.device or similar in which case you should first examine diskette 1
Better sorry than worry.

Show all files did reveal icons but clicking on them didn't run the programs. A box would appear at the top of the screen that seemed to need something entered in it.

its normal . . . when you chose "Show all files" will appeare the def icons of your HD installation.

Is there an icon on CD with "Assign" "Start" or so? (i don't think so anyway)

What are, LHA, MODS archives or so?

Use Dopus or DiskMasterII to see and unharchive it.

ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/dir/DiskMaster.lha

EDIT- forgot the easy way:

Open a Shell and type:

list CD0:

(or whatever if called your CD device)

@Kitch

I believe the old Amiga Shopper coverdisks used the diskspare system. I think you need the other floppy to run them.

I've PM'd you with more information on this.

Cheers,

JaX
