Seeking 68882 50Mhz FPU and Mouse Adaptor (non serial)
« on: June 20, 2005, 10:13:44 PM »
If anyone has a 68882 50Mhz FPU they could sell me for cheap I'd be very interested.

Also I'm in the market for a non-serial mouse adaptor. Currently they are about $45 new, which of course is RAPE, so if you can help me out that would be great!

I don't know about the FPU, but if you are a builder you'll find the schematics of a PS/2 mouse adapter on Aminet, somewhere in Hardware/hacks zone
A500, KS 1.3, 1 Mb RAM
A1200, KS 3.0, 2 Mb Chip+8 Mb Fast RAM, 1 Gb CF
Lots of 8-bit computers (:-D me thinks I\'m the only Romanian that owns 3 Acorn BBC\'s - 2 Model B\'s and a Master)
Athlon X2 4200+, 2x1 Gb DDR II, 250+750Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA ...

@XDelusion

The DKB"1240" have a seperat crystal for the FPU and supports at least 25, 40 and 50Mhz FPU.

Sorry - buy the Cocolino from Elbox and sell at small margin.

The 68882/50Mhz are very difficult to get these days..

Dude, I think you have to come to terms that some of this hardware is becoming difficult to obtain, hence the price tends to go up in accordance with demand, buying from amigakit, I'd assume you would get a warranty as well? Whereas eBay is, 9 times out of 10, sold "As Is". I just picked up a 68030 and 68882 40MHz combo for just over AU$40, and I don't even know if they work yet.

I recently saw a 25 or 33Mhz FPU go for $5.00. At that price, I'd be more than willing to take my chances.

I should just find out what old Macs used them, and buy one of those off Ebay for a penny, ask the seller to just send me the chip and toss the computer. :)

Yeah, that may work, but I myself am yet to see an 030 Mac without a surface mounted CPU. Thats not to say they don't exist, I've just never seen one.

Apple wasn't the only one that used plcc versions of the 68030 surface mounted on the m/b.  Ever seen an A3000, A3000T, A1200, A600, or A4000/030 daughterboard???  All of them use surface mount plastic plcc packages soldered directly to the motherboard.  Wouldn't surprise me if Atari did the same with the TT030 and Falcon030.
