Don't need to look it up, i know it off by heart. Its basically an illegal instruction error. Usually caused by badly installed software, a bad patch, wrong 680x0 libraries, dodgy hardware, running 020 software on an 000 ... etc.

It sound like you just may have some bad hardware then. Check all you connections and make sure all your chips/boards are well seated.

when i boot up with only my WB 3.1 disk, everything works fine... so it cant be any chips. think it might be  a bad HD?

Do you have a 68040 or better ? Then it could still be a software problem. The original Workbench 3.1 disk does not contain a 68040.library and thus runs the 68040 (or 68060) in a slow compatible mode. Once you install a 68040.library, this becomes active upon boot and accelerates the processor (enables caches etc.)

Now, if you run a 68060 without the correct 68040.library (dummy) and 68060.library installed, it is a wonder that you get a desktop at all. Or if you run a non-Commodore 68040 card with the Commodore 68040.library you might get trouble, too.

Bye,
Thomas

What accelerator are you running?  Are you sure you have the proper 680x0 libraries installed?

So that's what it means?!?!
I have been getting those errors for ages now, but I've never found out what it means.
I have an EC030 @ 40.
On the other hand I have a pretty meager PSU ( Bog standard A500 one ), could it be that?

It could be the power supply.  How much extra stuff do you have in your machine??
