Elbox 1240 & artefacts on the screen

Hi there,
Friend gave me elbox 1240 on test purposes, it makes some strange errors ion screen snd sometime it crashes. Is this dead baby? :pissed:

1240 errors

68040 library seems to be updated to 46.5  :-?
too lazy to use shift key properly...

It could be timing issues that are known to occur on some A1200 revisions when using an 040/060 processor.

If you're handy with a soldering iron have a look at Ian Stedmans page on A1200 modifications

Edit..
Although after looking at the pic again, it doesn't look like timing problems, Are you running any patches/improvements at startup?

yes, im running MCP, but artefacts are sometismes in earlystartup too. i will look at those hacks, thanks
too lazy to use shift key properly...

nope, it makes errors on a first boot, after some hours 040 is only warm on touch
too lazy to use shift key properly...

When you see the grey area under the title become populated with buttons for prev/next/hostory/favourites/views/etc, panic!

Otherwise look for patches that fiddle with intuition rendering :-)

but . . the Elbox 1240 its a DCE Viper or what?

Have you tryed to remove the 68040.library?

Karlos . . .do you know if those card has the 040 lib in ROM? (like Apollo and Blizzard)

Yes, without library its still same, im getting errors in early-startup menu too. And its Apollo 1240/40
too lazy to use shift key properly...

and this is weird, seen that at that stage, it can't be a software problem.

The EarlySS screen is corrupted even after a cold reboot?

Have you tried removing any memory on the 1240 to see if the error goes away?
BTW, Is the 1200 still being powered from its original PSU? And do you know what revision motherboard it is (printed next to the expansion connector, it'll say something like  Rev2B or Rev 1D4)

Not quite. There is an expansion rom on the card, don't forget.

This bug is extremely strange looking, I can't think of a hardware fault that could cause something so specific.
