So I've just copied my entire workbench bartition to my Emergency partition. So now bot partitions have exactly the same files on them. I boot up from the Emergency partition and all the Icons line up okay, then I boot up from the workbench partition and its all screwed up!

So it has to be something to do with the ways the disks are formatted!!!!

Both partitions are formatted with the same filesystem (ffs v45.13) and the only difference is that my workbench disk is 500meg and the emaegency one is 2gig.

Any ideas people?

This is weird, how can a filesystem/partition affect the way icons are placed at boot-up????
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

Did you unsnapshot the icons before trying to snapshot again? (Sorry for the obvious suggestion, but it always worked for me when icons would hop around like that.)

mhhhh so the Emergency partition is over the 2 GB limit . . . don't know if this is possible with FFS.

Thomas could answer to this (i've never used FFS with boot partition over 2 GB)
