Picasso II and high resolutions
« on: June 18, 2005, 06:35:23 PM »
Hello!

A person has offered me this card but I don't know exactly what are the available screen modes.

In particular, I'd know if I can set a resolution of 1280x1024 pixels with at least 16 bit. I own an LCD monitor so if I use a lower resolution than its native, the image quality 'll be quite bad.

Thanks for your help!
Alex

i think not unfortunately :-(

2MB of VRam (if not one on some model) aren't enough.

@starf:

The memory is atleast enough for achieving the 1280x1024 native resolution at 8-bit, but unfortunately the GD5426 or GD5428 chip on the Picasso2 has a maximum pixelclock of 85MHz at 8-bit and that is too slow to manage that resolution without resorting to interlace. At 16-bit it is even worse - then the maximum pixelclock is only 45MHz.
