Polls on my website!
« on: March 13, 2003, 06:06:43 PM »
Hi all!

I have just added a poll script onto my website, alhtough it is still in beta I wouldn't mind if people could have a look at it and help me test it.

Many thanks!

Nice script - all seems to work fine.

The only thing that I'd do is reduce the accuracy - its a bit offputting having nine-digit recurring decimals there  :-)

I was number 0000300 !! :-)

Nice site. One thing about the poll, don't you think that seeing the results before voting might affect your decision? IMO, the questions should be the first thing you see.

It's also possible to vote more than once! Two of the votes for Pegasos was made by me! Wonder who the guy is that voted for the A1? :-P :-P  ;-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

Ah, the downside of gW3S: No server-side cookie support or session handling ;-)

@takemehomegrandma

that is the problem with gW3S (as carls pointed out) is trying to work out how to do cookies or IP logging, that would at least prevent some immediate double voting, but as I say it is only a beta version this is mainly to see if the main script can handle it OK.

I was thinking of maybe giving the option of either voting for the poll or viewing it, rather then view then vote or vote then view. As was said view then vote could lead to people voting with the majority, but vote then view would encourage multiple voting.

I'll keep working at it!

Thanks for all your suggestions, keep 'em comming!

but is it atleast possible to implement ?

i have no clue how cookies work, or how a script
extracts cookie data from the users browser, but
if its possible I'll look into it...but to know
if its possible or not first would be nice :-)
