However it's better to use an Amiga RGB port -> SCART cable.

Odin's rigth the RGB output from the Amiga is very good and it's composite output sucks really big time. The colors are more saturated on the composite output though, but the sharpness of the RGB output makes a really big difference.

OK,

You can get Amiga RGB to Scart and you can get a Scart to SVHS.

Is there a single Amiga RGB to SVHS cable? My TV card has an SVHS input that I'd rather use than composite (and don't want to use several adapters between the RGB and SVHS)...

I have an NTSC TV set, so I can't use a SCART device. What is the alternative? Thanks!

unfortunately not, Karlos.

The Amiga port doesn't supply Y-C output (exept CD32 and/or CDTV don't remember now).

An easy way to achieve an Y-C output from an Amiga RGB port, is an encoder or a modded (crap) A520 or, if you can find one, a cheap YC genlock (with pass-trough option).

I said with a pass-through switch, because an "always active" genlock, may cause troubles in some configuration/enviroments.

EDIT- i meant to say "by pass" switch instead of "passthrough" (that is a common feature in about all gelocks)

@codehunter

If you got a PAL A600 then you'll need an A520 graphics converter to get an NTSC signal.

If you got an NTSC Amiga it will hook up like a VCR but like someone else in this thread mentioned the composite video output of the A600/1200 stinks mightily.

@CodeHunter

Get a S-Video Genlock.....you will get an awesome S-Video OUT

I recommend the SuperGen SX (on eBay all the Time)  NOT the regualr beige colored Supergen.but the Black SX version

Or get a RF Modulator with Y/C out........but you need the cable that converts it so S-Video as I have :-)
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

@ Karlos

The Lola2000 is very nice and tends to go quite cheap because people aren't aware of its quality. A while ago one went for about £7 on ebay.

@X-Ray

Lola? That's a genlock, isn't it?

Anyway, I saw a hack someplace recently that shows an SVHS adaptor wired into an A1200. It seems the display circuitry does produce all the required signals but only the CD32 actually provided a socket.

Now I just need to remember where the hell I saw it...

-edit-

My bad, I mean S-Video, not SVHS which is totally different and just introduced the S-Video connection (I just got chastised from a video geek friend :lol:)
