n00b question about ADF, IPF and Plug-Ins
« on: June 01, 2005, 07:09:16 PM »
Hi All,
I am glad to be part of these great communities! It brings back a lot of fond and enjoyable memories!

OK, I am very new to the whole scene and would like to know:

1 - How can I "force" WinUAE to load my configuration? Where do I need to put an IPF plug-in (for IPF games).

2 - Why my mouse/keyboard or Joystick do not work in a given game?

3- Why do I get blank screen (white or black) when I run some games? (tested OK)

Any help would be grealy appreciated.
Kind Regards,
CodeHunter

I believe if you double-click on a config file then the emulator will load with that setup.  I think that you can also pass the name of a configuration file on the command line, if that's what you mean.  I've never used IPFs, but the readme says you need to stick it in the same directory as the WinUAE execuable,

How have you setup the joystick/mouse port options under UAE (if you haven't touched them, I believe that the default may be to map the joystick to the keyboard).  Does this only affect certain games?

At what point do you get the blank screen?  Which games don't work?  I suppose that this could be due to setting configurations wrongly (for instance setting up a high-end Amiga for a basic OCS game, or a basic A500 setup for an AGA game) perhaps - it's hard to say without more info...
