Mac Emulator?
« on: May 13, 2005, 04:52:55 AM »
Hi,

I am a new user to this site & yesterday my brother & I had a few games of Sensible world of Soccer on our Amiga 1200.  :-D
Still one of the greatest football games of all time.

Anyway as a Mac user I wanted to know if there are any emulators for this OS. So that I can play these games & other games on my Mac

Thank you for your time.

Yes, there are some Mac emulators for classic Amiga: ShapeShifter (free) and Fusion (commercial). Both can run Mac OS up to 8.1 and need Mac ROM image.

There is also a New-World PowerMac emulator iFusion, it supports Mac OS 8.6 - 9.1, doesn't need Mac ROM, but you need a PPC equipped Amiga.

I am running the latest OS 10.3.9 so which emulator do you reccommend & do all of them play all the games or do they only play specific ones.

Thanks again.

I think spider misunderstood.  You want to emulate Amiga with Mac, not Mac with Amiga.

E-UAE is getting better, although WinUAE (Windows only) is still the most complete and compatible emulator.

Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

ShapeShifter and Fusion are both for running Mac programs on an Amiga. To run Amiga programs on a Mac you need UAE check it out at http://www.freiburg.linux.de/~uae/ . You will also need an Amiga rom file and Amiga OS disk images. They are available
by serching online, but are still copywrighted so you should only use the online images if you have the real ones. Using the kickstart rom images and OS disk images off of the Internet just makes life easier then having to network your Mac and "real" Amiga. If you don't have the rights to use the rom and OS or if you can use some of the nice extras included you may want to consider Amiga Forever. http://www.amigaforever.com/

Hope this helps,
