Amiga 3000D for trade
« on: May 07, 2005, 10:46:37 PM »
Before you read any further: I am interested in trading for an Amiga 4000D *only*.  Right now I am not interested in selling these items.  Thanks!

I have an Amiga 3000D, good working condition, with the following specs:

* 68030@25MHz
* 2MB chip/16MB fast
* 120MB SCSI HD (I think, will double check size)
* 880KB floppy (1)
* Keyboard
* KS 3.1

I will also consider throwing in a Video Toaster 4000 board that I pulled from my A4000T.  Don't know if it works or not but it looks good.

I want to trade for an A4000D in good working condition, hopefully with Buster 11, KS 3.1, and 16MB memory.  Doesn't need an HD but I won't complain!  Would really like a keyboard, although I have an adapter I can use if you really don't have one to spare.

Reason for trade?  I have three (count 'em) A3000s, one is connected to my TV so I can play games in the living room.  I would kinda like to replace that one with an AGA machine.  A1200 isn't good because I need the keyboard all the way back on my couch!

I'd like to keep this a cash-free transaction, but I'm open to suggestions.  I have other things I can throw in to sweeten the deal if necessary.  If you're interested PM me or respond here, I am happy to provide pics/more info once I know somebody is interested :-)

For now let's keep this in the 48 states, thanks!

Um last time I checked the Amiga 4000 series computers is better than the Amiga 3000.  How do you expect to do a even trade?  :-?

If you check eBay, the Amiga 4000 ALWAYS ends up a higher price than any Amiga 3000.  Why do you think that is?

Yeah, thanks for the insight guys.  Why do you suppose I am offering other stuff on top of it?  Yes I am well aware the A4000D is "better".

Well even with the Toaster 4000 it wouldn't be an even trade! You know now that I think about it maybe two 3000D's for 1 A4000D might be more like a fair trade!!!

Whadda you guys think?

I think that I already have an A3000T and a A4000D and I want an A4000T.  That's what I think:-D

I wouldn't mind having an A3000D, but not enough to let go of an A4000D for it.  I say keep it and buy an A4000.  They are two very different machines, both have advantages.

Yeesh.  Let me be really clear:

I would *like* to avoid having cash involved.  If I can work out a suitable arrangement, I don't see the problem.  I have more than the Toaster board but why detail this with no interest?  Clearly, I don't have to worry about Tj being interested.

If cash is desired, cash is available.  But I want to trade an A3000D as part of it, along with perhaps other parts to negate the need for any cash to change hands.  IF POSSIBLE.

In other words, I don't want to exchange cash.

Also, I'd like to avoid money changing hands if possible.

In addition, if I can, it would be nice to have my greenbacks, and their greenbacks, stay put.

I'm not exactly holding a gun to anybody's head here...except perhaps to those bananas.

If nobody is interested, that's ok too.  I'll leave it on the TV and do my AGA stuff on the A4000T.  I just happen to enjoy playing games on my TV more than on a monitor.  Or maybe I'll just eBay it.  Maybe I'll get lucky like that sucker who paid $400+ for an A3000 that didn't even have 2MB chip!

You don't like these cute little guys?  :banana: :banana:

Wow that A3000 sure went high!  But that is quite rare though.  It is nice and clean, but only 1MB Chip!  Well those DIPS are easy to find anyway.

Well hopefully you can work out some kinda deal but I doubt it.  Maybe your best bet is to get it all set up nice and take some quality pics and ebaY it.  If it is not yellowed and it looks nice and clean like the one above you should get around $300 or more.  Then just keep an eye out for a 4000.  But the problem with buying a 4000 is those pesty batteries that tend to kill the RTC and SIMM slots!  Be careful.

Jeff, I agree I would just keep it and get the 4000.  And I also am with you on that 4000T!  I am after one myself.  But I would rather have the CBM one!  Does anyone know if any were released?  (Not the AT one)

There is a user here who has a CBM model (can't remember who) but I remember him saying that the case was packed in the loft and he wouldn't sell it. (I was looking for a replacement case for my A4000T at the time)

IIRC only about 200 of those were released.
