Tricky ebay auction
« on: April 26, 2005, 12:13:21 PM »
I was searching for some blizzard cards on ebay today, and then I found this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=98928&item=8187960659&rd=1

Not a very nice way to fool people I think. The auction has a "buy it now" for only £0.01 and then the seller want £99.99 which is his "Seller's Standard Rate"

Some dubious feedback as well:

- Never recived item. Avoid like the plague. Filed claim with paypal. Do not use!!

- shame on you, hornochse

- Wanted to collect, would not allow. No reply to emails, IDIOT, TOTALLY AVOID!

- No Comms from Seller, Paid. no Goods Recieved. Recovered Money. AVOID!!

- No contact after purchase, do not trust, VERY BAD EBAYER!!!

- NON PAYING BIDDER. Promised payment several times but not received, no replies to dispute. Fees reclaimed and strike issued.

- did not complete purchase had to relist item

- Not Satisfactory. Nearly 3 weeks to arrive. No cable to connect to TV included.

Report him to Ebay for attempting to circumvent seller fees. Ebay will take it seriously and take action.

Reported.  I usually don't like to tattle, but this person is seriously whacked.  We'll see what they do about it, but I'd think eBay would take it's money seriously.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Well, I just bought his A4000 atx power supply adaptor, buy it now for 1 pence, £11 postage, still not too bad, certainly a lot easier than doing it yourself (I know, I've done it) :-)

Someone local should bid and pick-up all of his items. :-)

Merlancia did that a while ago, too. Large fake shipping fees are bad news and mean. Ebay doesn't like it, either.

He's not the only example of this practice. Even 'reputable' companies do it. For example, you can buy brand new, Epson compatible carts for a penny or two Right Here. And Here. Check the postage.

Another much more common practice is adding PayPal fees to the auction price, typically 4%. This is also in contravention of eBay rules, so do eBay really care that much?

Cheers,

JaX
