I liked Wordworth, but had terrible trouble printing, so I tried Kindwords (like an early version of Wordworth by the same people) and it worked well, printing all my intellifonts on a non-text inkjet printer.

"From what I've heard AmigaWriter is pretty awfull."

But have anyone actually  used the full version of AmigaWriter 2.2 and could tell a bit more?

And no bashing about H&P please. ;-)

As a user of both Wordworth and AmigaWriter, I can tell you that AW is lame.  The advertised functions don't work properly, it sometimes crashes without warning, amd, even with the upgrade, isn't friendly to TurboPrint.

Although SLOW, WW is excellent at almost everything I've had it do.  Printing on special effects, however, has taken as long as an hour.
Now featuring new and improved G4 AmigaOne, with Mozilla!

"Amiga Word Processor Recommendation Wanted"

You mean, one that doesn't capitalise the first letter of every word you type? :-)

I have used three word processors on the Amiga:

Write, from the Amiga Appetizer package ... :-D
KindWords, from the Critics' Choice package ...  :-x
Final Writer, by SoftWood, Inc. ... :-D  :-D

I still use Write for simple stuff, because it is very easy to use.

KindWords had lots of features, but could not keep up to my typing or deleting speed.

Started out with Final Writer Release 4, upgraded to Release 5, then upgraded to Final Writer 97.
I would highly recommend any of these three versions of Final Writer.
Unfortunately, SoftWood Inc. is no longer in the business.

When it comes to Word processors, nothing really beats KindWords2, yup Commodore Software devision at their best!!! :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

It even has a Spell checker!?!?!?! how cool is that!?!? The supplied fonts are only slightly useless and rather blocky due to their bitmap nature... damn I miss reall computing... Begone, Evil WordXP... :-D

SilvrDrgn,

I own Wordworth 6 and it's great.  Unfortunately, Digita no longer support the Amiga, so any copy you get of their software, don't expect any tech support from them.  I believe the last version was 7.0.

A friend of mine bought Amiga Writer a while back to replace Final Writer, and while his words can't be reposted here for fear of me losing my account, suffice it to say that it sucks like a black hole in space.  Haage & Partner are behind this one, and it's still supported by them.  Go figure, the only good products that ever came out of them are AmigaOS 3.9 and StormC.

Final Writer, according to him, is still pretty decent, but like Wordworth, is no longer being supported, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a copy still for sale.  Softwood's web site has been "not available" for the better part of the last two years, although the domain name is registered till 2006.  Maybe they're hoping for a comeback. :-)

Personally speaking, Wordworth would be your best choice if you want to get close to what WordPerfect is like on the "PC".  But that's as close as you'll get, "close".

There’s a small Wordworth update to 7.01 plus some Arexx commands on the kickstart Amiga page, both in Lha
http://www.kickstart-amiga.co.uk

Hope that helps some people

How sad there is no word processor for the Amiga.
Do you reckon that the A1 will have a better word processor?
I have not seen many apps for the A1.
I have Amiga Writer, but since I use Office 2000 for all of my writing needs, I've never really tried it out.
The point of owning an Amiga is the hobby of computing.
If you think that 10,000 users can come up with something like Office 2000 let me know your logic.

I haven't used many WordProcessors, buy Wordworth7.01 (7.0 with the update) is a hell of a good product. I hope it gets ported to AOS4 someday.

amigawriter has a lot of potential. for starters it can support ms word documents which is a very important factor for a modern word processor. but i do agree that existing versions are pretty poor, so i'd recommend wordworth 7 or finalwriter 97. despite these products being 5 years old, they are much more up to date in many ways than the recent amigawriter.

Have you dealt with this company before?  I did a couple of searches on their site, for Final Writer and WordWorth.  Final Writer doesn't come up with a version number (and is also under used software) and WordWorth comes up as 'WordWorth Office'.

First off, can I talk to these guys and get a useful response? (re: Final Writer version number)

Secondly, are they reliable/reputable?

Thirdly, is 'WordWorth Office' just WordWorth the WP, or is it more than that?  If so, is it any good at being more than just a WP (eg. does it have a spreadsheet too)?

For just text bashing.....

Protext takes some beating.

For Document Processing I concur...

Get FinalWriter... Or   Wordworth

Their both as good as each other, although I lean towards FW.

Wordworth is available (somewhere) as an SE version.

I have WordWorth 7 and AmigaWriter and would also like to have FinalWriter97.

Again what strikes me odd is that allthough WordWorth 7 and FinalWriter97 are not supported anymore, you can't even get them anymore!!!

How hard is it to burn a few CD's. And if they don't want to do that, why not release them as freeware and upload it to Aminet???

It's time I think that something like Back2Roots is done for old apps.
