Password problems with YAM.
« on: April 25, 2005, 09:47:39 AM »
I've run into a bit of a problem.

For years I've used YAM as my main mailer for my official email-address. Since I had people running around my place a lot for a while I password protected it as well.

Anyway. Some time ago I set my A4k up as a webserver with linux and started using my pc for that email-address. Now I've put up an old pc as a webserver instead and I can again access YAM on my miggy.

Problem is, after not using it for about 6 months I can't remember the password.

Is there a way to get by that with YAM?

Or you could set up the account again and copy the files from the incoming etc directories in the YAM path or from wherever you have them saved.  You may have to copy them to another location before recreating the account.  This might work.  Old e-mails are definitely viewable outside YAM anyway, regardless of a password being used.

I know I can view them. I was just hoping there was a fairly easy way to get back in.

Oh well, I'll try and dig those email-addresses I need out of there somehow.

Just have to add a comment about this.

Passwords in YAM is very simple, a little trial and error in the configs got me out of the trouble.. just figure out what number each key refers to and then the password is in "plain text" in reverse...
